Need for weather intelligence highlighted at NSW Minerals Council Environment & Community Conference

Katestone’s Andrew Wiebe and Andy Vernon shared ideas and experiences with the attendees at the 2013 NSW Minerals Council Environment & Community Conference held in the Hunter Valley in September.

Delegates heard about the progress of the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue towards meeting its Emissions and Health goals.  Weather forecasting is a key initiative of the Dialogue that aims to provide a tool to enable sites to “…prepare their operations in advance of adverse wehather conditions to minimse dust emissions.”

Katestone has been an advocate for using weather intelligence to manage weather related risks for many years having consulted to the mining, industrial and agricultural sectors. To assist mines to manage risks associated with their weather dependent activities, Katestone is developing a weather intelligence tool – KITE® – scheduled for release in the new year.

If you are interested in finding out more about this, or in contributing to development, please contact Christine Killip or Andrew Wiebe on
