Thanks for contributing to our odour nuisance survey

Katestone undertook a survey of wastewater treatment professionals to gauge their experiences in addressing odour nuisance issues at both the approval (planning) and operational stages of a project. The results of the survey will be presented at the upcoming Ozwater conference in Brisbane between 29 April and 1 May 2014.

Katestone would like to thank all those who have contributed to the research and completed surveys.

The survey was designed to gauge the experiences of wastewater treatment professionals when dealing with odour impacts at the planning and development stage of infrastructure as well as complaints about odour at the operational stage of infrastructure.

The number of surveys completed to-date includes:

  • 13 Operational Phase surveys
  • 9 Planning and Development surveys

All planning surveys were for wastewater treatment plants. Ten of the operational phase surveys were for wastewater treatment plants with three completed for pump stations and sewage pipelines.

The spatial distribution of the surveys completed is shown above. There is an even distribution of surveys completed amongst the states in Australia and interestingly a single survey was completed by Canadian industry professional!!
