Rebecca fell in love with all things air pollution and tropical when she was completing her Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at Texas A&M University. She went on to complete a Masters of Science of Public Health in 2008 from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and subsequently joined a consulting firm providing program support for a federally-funded environmental health research program in the United States. Rebecca then undertook a PhD at Macquarie University and the University of Edinburgh, which allowed her to combine her two loves (title: What Drives Isoprene in Tropical Australia?). She joined Katestone in 2021 as a Senior Consultant with experience in air quality assessments, ambient monitoring and atmospheric chemistry.

Rebecca has completed air quality projects assessing the impacts of odour, dust, VOC emissions and climate change for a range of mining, agricultural, industrial, municipal and data centre clients.  Some of her projects include a large, 3-stage data centre, the impacts of long-term dust deposition along a roadside and climate change hazard identification for more than 200 sites across Australia. She utilises a range of numerical meteorological and dispersion models, including WRF, CALMET/CALPUFF, TAPM, AERMET/AERMOD, and has also developed and built her own models for research use. She also has expertise in GIS tools and python scripting.

When not at work, you can find Rebecca taking photos of people and places around Brisbane or riding along a cycle path.
